The Saga Continues
Today was the final day. I managed to check out of the command, finish packing out my office, and finish my readings for class tonight. That proved to be quite the feat, but, somehow I managed it. We got our test today in NSDM and we have 36 hours to complete it. 36 hours to write a grand strategy for dealing with the world in the next 15 years. That's not going to be a problem--yeah, right! I have my going away lunch tomorrow, and I leave for RI on Thursday morning, so that doesn't leave me much time to work on my paper. I believe I'm going to take a cooperative security approach to it. Not many people in my class seem to be in favor of it, well, they SAY they aren't in favor of cooperative security, however their words and thoughts betray those thoughts and lead me to believe that even though they say they are in favor of primacy or selective engagement, their thoughts and what they say scream "cooperative security." My whole take on this is that just because we are the superpower in the world doesn't mean that we have to have a policy of primacy. We need to start working with the rest of the world to help end terrorism. The rest of the world hates us especially because we continue to act unilaterally and tell the world we don't want or need their help. Eventually we are going to have a power rise that can challenge our primacy, whether it be economically or politically, and we are going to have to answer for our actions. Either that or we will have destroyed our standing in the world so much that it will be irreparable. We need to start healing the division in the world right now and we need to start cooperating with the rest of the world for cooperative security. Thomas PM Barnett says we have to export security to the gap to shrink it and integrate them into the core. If we don't do that, they are going to continue to be a hotbed of terrorism against us. We can't allow that, but the more we disparage the rest of the world, the more we are going to breed those anti-American sentiments. Just my thoughts, though. I have to think about my paper, and my lunch, and my transfer, and I also have to think about the ballgame I'm watching--Red Sox 7, Yankees 10. The Yankees Suck! Nevermind, the Yankees just won. Did I mention the Yankees SUCK!
